Rep. Stephens welcomes new plane for 126th
Air Refueling Wing
Shiloh…. Representative Ron Stephens (R-Highland) was on hand for the
KC-135R Arrival Ceremony held by the 126th Air Refueling Wing at
Scott Air Force Base on Monday, March 10.
“I am proud to be included in this important and history-making ceremony,” Rep. Stephens said.
The commander of the 126th Air Refueling Wing, Colonel Peter Nezamis, moderated the hour long ceremony which heralded the arrival of the new plane to their fleet. According to Nezamis, the KC-135R will allow the division greater capability to accomplish their air refueling missions. The plane is able to provide aerial refueling support to Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps planes, as well as aircraft of allied nations. Also, the KC-135R is able to transport injured soldiers during evacuation procedures.
“It’s great that the 126th Refueling Wing received this plane today,” Rep. Stephens said. “Anything to aid them in their vital support missions should be at their immediate disposal. When they are able to do their jobs at their best, it helps everyone.”
Also speaking at the ceremony was Major General (IL) William Enyart, who serves as the 37th Adjutant General for Illinois. Prior to his current role, he served as the Deputy Commanding General for the Illinois Army National Guard.
