Stephens appointed to House GOP Leadership Team

Springfield
Representative Ron Stephens (R-Highland) is proud to announce that he has been appointed to Illinois’ House Republican Leadership Team for the 96th General Assembly.

Rep. Stephens will continue on as Assistant House Republican Leader after being appointed by House Republican Leader Tom Cross.

“It is a great honor to be appointed to the Republican Leadership by Leader Cross. I want to thank him for the opportunity to serve him and the GOP caucus again,” Stephens said. “We have a lot of hard work ahead of us this session. I look forward to working with my House colleagues, the new leadership in the Senate, and our new Governor to help the residents of both my district and all of Illinois.”

Stephens said he plans to work hard on passing property tax relief and a capital construction plan upon returning to Springfield.

“Various areas within my district are in desperate need of infrastructure repairs and construction projects, and we need to address those concerns sooner rather than later,” Stephens said. “Additionally, during these harsh economic times, the last thing the residents of the 102nd District need is a huge property tax bill. We need to take a hard look at the current property tax system and see what can be done to bring everyone some relief.”

Stephens represents portions of St. Clair, Madison, Clinton, Bond, Fayette, Effingham and Shelby County.
