Stephens: $103 Million Allocated in IDOT Six Year Road Plan for 102nd District

Springfield…. Over $103 million to be used for vital road and bridge improvements has been allocated for the 102nd District in the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) six-year road plan, according to Representative Ron Stephens (R-Highland). Many of the projects are scheduled to begin moving forward in 2009.

“Nearly $103 million in state funding has been allocated for highway improvement projects for the 102nd District spanning from Fiscal Year 2009 through Fiscal Year 2014,” Stephens said. “I am pleased that millions of dollars have been allocated in the IDOT Six Year Road Plan to continue progress on much needed road improvements and bridge repairs for 2009. Highway and bridge safety is a major concern in my area and these road improvements are vitally important to residents of the entire district.”

According to Stephens, the projects scheduled for FY 2009 for the 102nd District include:

·        $17.5 million for the resurfacing and repair of a bridge located on I-64, half a mile from Illinois 4 along the St. Clair and Clinton County line.

·        $1.53 million for a bridge replacement over Richland Creek on US 51 in Fayette County.

·        $1 million for resurfacing along Illinois 16 and Illinois 128 from Shelby County Airport Road to East Washington Street in Shelbyville.

·        $1.3 million to replace the bridge at Little Shoal Creek, located on Illinois 140 and Illinois 127 in Bond County.

·        $4.1 million for the construction of a new bridge over US 40 as part of the Andrews Drive Extension, east of Illinois 127, in Greenville.

“Many of these projects have been a priority of mine and I am pleased IDOT has included these improvements and repairs in their plan,” said Stephens. “Hopefully we will be able to pass a capital plan and bring many more road projects to fruition.”
